October 19th results
Express 1-1 Gaddafi
Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 UPDF
There was no match winner on Wednesday as both the rescheduled game involving Express and Gaddafi, and another between Soltilo Bright Stars and the UPDF could only end in stalemates.
Express’s match against Gaddafi was moved from Tuesday after a downpour rendered Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku surface unplayable.
But when it eventually kicked off a day later, there was no separating the two despite the Red Eagles taking an early lead in this 1-1 draw.
Allan Kayiwa put Express ahead on nine minutes but Brian Kalumba levelled for Gaddafi eight minutes into the second half on former Red Eagles coach Wasswa Bbosa’s first return to Wankulukuku.
Express indifferent start to the season has them in sixth on just five points after four StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches while Gaddafi are five places below on two marks from three matches.
It was the similar story at Kavumba, where coach Asaph Mwebaze’s Bright Stars still cannot buy a win to save a life four matches into the season.
The hosts drew 1-1 with the UPDF, Bright Stars fourth successive draw in as many games.
Bright Stars took the lead through Emmanuel Loki on nine minutes but lively substitute Abasi Kyeyune levelled for the UPDF five minutes from full time.
The result leaves Bright Stars in seventh place on four points while UPDF are two places above on five points.
