Top tier local rugby outfit Heathens RFC and financial institution Platinum Credit Limited have extended their partnership to three more years in a deal worth UGX 330 Million, valued at UGX 110M per annum.

This new development makes Platinum Credit anchor sponsor of team and the side who are the league and Uganda Cup title holders will now be called “Platinum Credit Heathens.”

The two parties have been in a partnership for the past two seasons. The initial deal was UGX 20M, then UGX 30M the following season and now it has grown to UGX 110M per annum (season).

During the unveiling of the new package on Thursday at Kyadondo Sports Club in Kampala, Platinum Credit Managing Director, Albert Abaasa said that they are happy to see the partnership grow from something small to now one of the biggest partnerships in club rugby.

“It’s exciting for us to continue with this journey. We started small but now we have built a strong relationship,” Abaasa said adding that; “we promise to grow with the team and keep supporting it in the coming years.”

Kyadondo Sports Club Chairman, Brian Tabaruka noted that Heathens is a worthy partner who will give Platinum Credit good value for their money.

“Heathens are a winning team and I’m sure they will do their sponsor proud. They have been performing very well and now this sponsorship will keep them even more motivated,” Tabaruka said.

Heathens will start their Rugby League title defence on Saturday when they travel to Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere to take on arch rivals Stanbic Black Pirates. Other top tier sides will also be in action the same day.
