Alex Aturinda was named man of the match as Stanbic Black Pirates beat Plascon Mongers 12-43 on Saturday at the House of Pain in Entebbe to maintain their unbeaten run in the 2023 Nile Special Rugby Premier League.
Aturinda ran in a hat-trick of tries as Pirates posted the biggest win of matchday five of the men’s top tier division with the first round of the season now approaching its final bend.
Sydney Gongodyo, Umar Duff and Timothy Kisiga also ran in tries for the Sea Robbers while Ivan Magomu posted five conversions and a penalty in what was a good day on the road for the Bweyogerere based outfit.
For the home side, William Lukwago slotted home four penalties and his kicks was all his side had to count on.
Meanwhile, Impis who are the other team yet to lose a game this season managed a 15-20 win over Rhinos at Legends Grounds in Kampala to keep the title talk amongst their fans alive.
Impis fly half Henry Nsekuye picked his third man of the match award after five games following another impressive display with the kicking. He was also named player of the game in matches against Jinja Hippos and Mongers earlier in the campaign.
At Makerere Graveyard, Rams lost 11-16 to Walukuba Barbarians as the latter got off the mark leaving the former as the only team yet to win a single game this season.
At Kyadondo Sports Club, Kobs eased past their hosts Toyota Buffaloes with a 03-32 triumph.
At Dam Waters in Jinja, title holders Platinum Credit Heathens withstood Hippos early pressure to earn themselves a bonus point win following their 24-32 victory.
