Stanbic Black Pirates have completed a season double over Toyota Buffaloes in the 2023 Nile Special Rugby Premier League after picking a 03-21 victory on Saturday at Kyadondo Sports Club in Kampala.

In the first phase of the two- round league in February, Pirates managed a 22-09 win over Buffaloes at Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere. Then, Pirates tries were ran in by Timothy Odong, Timothy Kisiga and William Nkore. Ivan Magomu made two conversions as well slotting in one penalty.

However, the matchday 11 encounter between the two sides on Saturday had a slow start with Ivan Magomu’s two penalties the difference as the visitors led 03-06 at break time.

In the second half, Pirates managed two tries after Timothy Odongo and Eric Mula crossed the whitewash to the amusement of the traveling fans.

Magomu was good with the boot and he utilized the extras as he did in the first round fixture. He also had one penalty in the second half.

Meanwhile, in other men’s top tier fixtures, winners of the first round games managed to do the same on Saturday, completing a league double over their rivals.

At the Graveyard, Impis beat Rams 05-11 to win the second round of the Makerere derby. In the first round the former posted a slim 23-21 win at the same venue.

At the House of Payne in Entebbe, Buffaloes beat Walukuba Barbarians 30-09 in a heated contest. In the first round, the Plascon sponsored Mongers managed a slim 25-27 win in Jinja.

At Dam Waters, Kobs beat home side Jinja Hippos 14-24 albeit a halftime scare. In the first round played at Legends Grounds in Kampala, the former won 33-15.

At Legends, Rhinos lost 07-31 to Platinum Credit Heathens. In the first round played at Kyadondo, Heathens who are title holders beat Rhinos 36-06.
