Uganda’s Cricket Cranes were a win away from winning their series against Qatar hadn’t they slipped in the final game of the tour played on Tuesday.
After losing in the opening game last week, Uganda bounced back in style posting back to back victories and a hat-trick of triumphs would have sealed an overall tour triumph for them but Qatar won the final game to even matters. They kept the trophy being the hosts.
Qatar who fielded first in game four came atop off 4 wickets, posting 156/6 in 47.4/50 overs against Uganda’s 155/10 in 38.20/50 overs.
Kuram Shazad and Ikramullah Muhamed were unbeaten for the home side while on the crease and they led the way with 45 and 39 runs respectively.
Kamran Khan (14), Gayan Buddika (17) and Mohammed Rizian (18) all posted double figures for the home side in a collective effort.
For the Cricket Cranes, Kenneth Waiswa who posted a century in game three managed 31 runs from 41 balls. He had 1 six and 2 fours. However, his time on the crease was cut short when Mohammad Tanveer caught him following Sandum Chamara’s victory.
Simon Ssesazi followed with 29 runs whilst Riazat Ali Shah posted 22 runs. The former was bowled out by Owais Ahmed whilst the latter was caught by Gayan Buddika following Sandum Chamara’s delivery.
The purpose of the tour was to prepare Cricket Cranes for ODI cricket and the four games must have surely tested the Lawrence Mahatlane coached side. The side will have another tour around June this year.
