Vipers SC are champions of the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup. This is after they beat second tier side Police FC 1-0 in the final played on Saturday at Akii-bua Stadium in Lira.
Milton Kariisa was on target for the Venoms as the Kitende based side sailed to victory miles away from home.
It was Bright Anukani’s corner in the 16th of play that culminated into a goal after Kariisa rose highest to utilize the set piece.
Victory in Lira means that Vipers complete a domestic double after they won the league just a week ago.
The win in Lira is historic because it means that Vipers are just the fourth Ugandan club to win both the the Uganda Cup and the league in the same campaign. The other three are; KCCA FC, Express FC and SC Villa.
Vipers coach Alex Isabirye now claims a second straight Uganda Cup winners medal after he guided BUL FC to victory last year, against his current bosses who acquired his services in the middle of the just concluded campaign.
