Marie Stopes Uganda, the distributor of LIFEGUARD Condoms on Thursday, 10th August 2023 announced a jersey sponsorship deal with rugby outfit Rams RFC. The event happened at Marie Stopes Head office in Muyenga, Kampala.
Through this partnership, the two parties aim to promote a culture of responsible decision making, emphasizing the importance of protection, both on and off the field.
“Through this partnership, we shall inform the general public that Lifeguard is here to serve. Condom use allows people to take care of themselves while they are having fun,” Dr. Peter Ddungu, Deputy Country Director at Marie Stopes Uganda said reminding the public that Lifeguard Condoms help in preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unwanted pregnancies.
According to Dr. Peter Ddungu, they partnered with Rams because rugby is played and watched by majorly young people who love to have fun hence protective sex will help them avoid contracting STDs and unwanted pregnancies.
Rams Chairman, Peter Lubulwa expressed his excitement in this new development saying that both Rams and Lifeguard have the vision for promoting sexual reproductive health especially basing on the fact that the club was founded by medical practitioners and medical students.
“We are primarily a community club with vast members and fans who are sexually active. We believe that if Lifeguard is used in our communities, we can promote sexual reproductive health and curb STDs and unwanted pregnancies,” Lubulwa said.
Rams General Secretary, Jude Rwakayanga noted that he’s thrilled about Lifeguard coming on board. With the club having a medical background, Rwakayanga says that the club delights in having a partner that cares about sexual reproductive health.
Rams new kit will have the LIFEGUARD logo emblazoned on the front of the jersey and the short. The team has maintained its colours but will adopt the kit sponsor’s name.

Rams will debut the new kit this weekend during the fifth circuit of the National Sevens Series at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
