The I&M Katogo Invitational Golf Series has been boosted by the announcement of new partners. The unveiling of new partners happened on Wednesday at I&M Bank Corporate Branch at Kingdom Kampala.
I&M Bank Uganda who are the series anchor sponsors have warmly welcomed new partners on board, that is; RwandAir, GA Insurance and Merca Limited. Fenon Records and NBS Sport have already been on board but were also represented at the Wednesday event.
“We look forward to seeing you later this month for the September event,” Acting Managing Director of I&M Bank, Sam Ntulume said adding that; “this has become a much sought after series and we have witnessed increase in the number of participants from when it started. We also believe that it has created a wide opportunity for networking and people having fun together.”
Merca Limited who are the distributors of brand-new Renault vehicles in Uganda have offered a brand new car for the hole-in-one prize. The hole where the prize will be staked will be confirmed prior to the tournament but the organizers say it will be a par-3.
“The Renault vehicle is brand new with the best specifications you can think about. We hope that someone will be able to win it,” Sam Wambi who is the Brand Manager for Merca Limited said adding that they’re glad to be part of the series.
GA Insurance joins the series as the insurer for the hole-in-one prize hence offering a guarantee that the winner shall receive their prize free of any scenarios that would present any potential additional costs.

Our commitment is to offer the Hole-In-One car prize insurance cover, so that the lucky winner will have the remarkable opportunity to drive away their brand-new Renault, completely free of any additional costs,” said Francis Kamau, the CEO & Principal Officer at GA Insurance Uganda Limited.
RwandAir has pledged to avail tickets worth USD 2,000 to the select prize destinations.
“We believe that we have come at a right time,” said Peter Kamuti who is the Sales Manager RwandAir in Uganda. “RwandAir is your travel partner and we hope that we will continue to be part of this event.”
The next leg of this year’s series is scheduled for 30th September at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course where it’s always played. Club Captain, Seruwano Walusimbi is delighted to have new partners on board but first, he has thanked I&M Bank for leading the way.
“I want to thank I&M Bank for being there for the Katogo series. As club captain, I want to thank and welcome all the new sponsors who have come on board,” Walusimbi said adding that they expect a huge turn up this month as the event is not limited to only club members.
Hannington Mpiima who is the Katogo Golf Captain told the media that the tournament has a rich history and the support of the sponsors keeps it going. He added that the formats of play are challenging and that to bring out the best from golfers.
Katogo Invitational Golf Series is categorised into four events – Daytona held in the first quarter, followed by Call your shots in the second quarter, Me too in the third quarter and Oh Gosh in the last quarter of the year.
The quarterly series that started on 14 January 2023 will run up to 9 December 2023.
