Gaddafi FC have finally won a game in the 2023/24 season of the starTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) following their 1-0 win over Arua Hill on Friday.
Becker Buyala’s sole goal was enough to earn Gaddafi much needed points against Arua Hill as the two teams played out and completed the match earlier washed out by heavy rains on Thursday.
As per competition rules when the game is unable to be completed because of natural causes, this also resumed from the 10th minute – exactly where it had stopped the day before – at Paridi Stadium.
Gaddafi’s winner arrived 10 minutes from full time when Steven Munguchi helped the ball on for Buyala to grab the headlines and three points for his side.
Gaddafi’s first win after defeats to Vipers SC, URA and Kitara has them two places out of the relegation zone in 12th on three points.
On their part, Arua’s winless run in their opening four matches keeps them bottom of the 16-team table with no points.
