In a thrilling display of superb golfing skills, three talented players are locked in a tight race heading into the final round of the prestigious Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship (amateur event) that winds down this Saturday at Uganda Golf Club’s par-72 course in Kitante, Kampala.
After three rounds, Godfrey Nsubuga is still holding onto his lead, this time with just three strokes after amassing 10-under par 206. He’s being followed closely by Ibrahim Bagalana (209) while 2021 winner Joseph Cwinya-ai is third with 4-under par 212 thanks to his stellar show on Friday. Last year’s runner-up Michael Tumusiime is fourth with 3-over par 219.
The above four players will feature in the final round’s pressure group scheduled to tee-off at exactly 1 PM. Leading the pack is the young and fearless golfer, Nsubuga, who has been showcasing his raw talent, impressive accuracy, and composure on the course. Closer to him is Bagalana and Cwinya-ai hence making the battle for the championship a three-horse race.
Nsubuga will seek to hold onto his lead for one last time as he aims to win his maiden Uganda Open title but Bagalana too has never had the accolade at his grasp. Cwinya-ai on the other side is in pursuit for a second title but a podium may be good for him following his slow start to the championship.
As the players prepare to tee off in the final round, the tension in the air is palpable, and every shot, every putt, is being closely scrutinized by fans and pundits alike. The golf fraternity waits with bated breath to see who will emerge as the winner of this closely contested golfing extravaganza.
There’s no doubt that the final round of the amateur event of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship promises to be an exciting and thrilling affair, with the three golfers putting on a display of skill and determination not to be missed.
