Tennis For All National Junior Open Successfully Held In Kampala

The third edition of the Tennis For All National Junior Open came to a close on Sunday at the East Kololo Primary School courts in Kampala.

The event that served off on Saturday attracted over 50 youngsters, surpassing the expectations of the organizers.

“We expected 40 players but 52 players showed up for the competition. The tournament was very successful than expected as all players did put up a great performance against each other,” Tournament Director Julius Kyobe said.

The two-day juniors showpiece was split into three age categories, that is; Under 12, Under 10 and Under Eight. All the finals were played in best of three set matches.

In the Under 12 final, Jonathan Philber Ssenyomo beat Joakim Agenoga 10/12, 12/6, 12/6 in the best of 3 set match to win the boys event while Dhaanvi Dechamma won the girls event beating Nabukera Latifah 12/9, 12/5 also in a the best of 3 set match

In the Under 10 final, Owana Francis won the boys event after beating Okello Samuel 12/9, 4/12, 12/7 while Namukasa Nicole won the girls event 12/5, 12/2 against Kisakya Ruth.

In the Under eight final, Faraji Ali won the boys event 12/6, 12/11 against Oruma Braight while Keila Wanguich won the girls event 12/11, 12/5 against Afoyorwot Rihanna.

The Open was played by various players from both academies and clubs. Players from academies like Tennis For All Uganda, Let’s Play Tennis Uganda and Sporting Chance graced the event while clubs like Kabira Country Club and Lugogo Tennis Club were also represented.

The fourth edition will be held on Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th March 2021.

Youngsters will continue growing in the game with the second season of the Tennis For All Kololo Youth Tennis League that runs every Sunday of the week set to serve off.
