Uganda Sevens coach Tolbert Onyango on Friday named the team for the Africa Men’s 7s scheduled for September 16th to 17th in Harare, Zimbabwe. The exercise took place at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
The Olympic Qualifying tournament features 12 teams that will all compete for one slot.
Uganda will face Zimbabwe, Algeria, Burkina Faso and Cote d’ivore in Pool C games on 16th September at the Harare Sports Club.
Onyango says that they aim to break the Olympic qualification duck and make the cut for the 2024 Paris games.
“We have been missing out on the olympics for the past couple of years. We have now got the chance to attack first place this time. We are all aware there are tough contenders. The team is a mixture of experience and new blood. The team is in good shape and ready to take on any challenge coming their way,” Onyango told URU media.
Uganda are the defending champions of the tournament having won the previous edition at home.
