The Uganda national football team, the Uganda Cranes, will take part in the centenary celebrations of the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) after the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) accepted an invitation to participate in the historic event.
The Cranes are scheduled to face Zanzibar’s national team in a commemorative international match on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the newly constructed Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar. Kick-off is set for 8:15 p.m. East Africa Time.
For the occasion, Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has selected a 22-man squad composed entirely of locally based players. Midfielder Kenneth Semakula, who is currently unattached, is the only player in the squad not affiliated with a club.
The team will begin preparations on Monday, June 8, with a training session at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo as they gear up for the landmark fixture.
The squad features a blend of experienced performers and emerging talent from clubs across the Uganda Premier League.
