The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced a landmark achievement ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, confirming a record 20 broadcast partnerships covering more than 30 European territories.
The agreements will ensure unprecedented visibility and accessibility for Africa’s premier football tournament, bringing AFCON Morocco 2025 to millions of viewers across Europe when the competition kicks off on Sunday, 21 December 2025.
CAF said the scale of the broadcast reach reflects the growing global appeal, commercial strength, and competitive quality of African football. The tournament will feature 24 teams, 52 matches, and nine stadiums across Morocco, showcasing the continent’s finest talent and footballing passion.
“These agreements mark a major step forward in CAF’s strategy to grow the reach, visibility, and value of African football worldwide,” CAF noted. The expanded coverage will also serve Europe’s large African diaspora, enabling fans to follow their national teams live and free-to-air in several markets.
The announcement builds on CAF’s historic agreement with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, which will broadcast all 52 AFCON matches free-to-air for the first time in UK history. In Spain, CAF has secured a new deal with Movistar, one of the country’s leading sports broadcasters, a move expected to generate strong viewership given Spain’s sizeable Moroccan diaspora and deep footballing links with North Africa.
Significant new territories have also been added. AFCON returns to free-to-air television in Greece through ERT, ensuring nationwide coverage for the first time in many years. In Norway, VGTV will broadcast the tournament free-to-air for the first time. Elsewhere, established partners such as Sport Italia and Ziggo Sport are expected to deliver even higher audiences in Italy and the Netherlands, where Moroccan communities and Eredivisie-based Moroccan stars continue to drive interest.
SportDigital will continue its coverage across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), while a broad network of broadcasters across Eastern, Southern, and Central Europe completes the most extensive European media footprint in AFCON history.
The broadcast agreements were facilitated in partnership with IMG, CAF’s international media rights and sponsorship agency.
