Uganda and DRC will be eyeing a first victory at the 2021 CECAFA U23 Challenge Cup when they meet on Monday.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides after drawing 0-0 in the opening contest of group A.

That draw set the tone for the two sides as they failed to progress past the group stages and fell into the classification category. Uganda finished with two points while DRC managed just one.

It has been a disappointing outing for the Kobs who were hoping to emulate their senior counterparts who won the championship in Kampala two years ago.

Kobs head coach Morley Byekwaso expects the players to rise to the occasion on Monday.

“We want to better our performance and finish in a respectable position. We eye an improved performance against DR Congo. Sad that we couldn’t go further in the tournament but we now have a chance to play for a good position.” Byekwaso stated.

Following two draws in the group, Byekwaso and his technical team are expected to make changes to the team.

Steven Sserwadda is understood not to have recovered from injury so Bright Anukani is expected to start once again like he did in the 1-1 draw with Tanzania.

Gavin Kizito and Ivan Bogere are the other players in line for a first start at the competition.
