The 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), staged under the theme “Pamoja”, has continued to impress both fans and football stakeholders with its blend of high-intensity matches and meticulous organization by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, the tournament has showcased the growing strength of domestic football across the continent. From the group stage’s opening fixtures, CHAN 2024 has drawn praise for its world-class facilities, smooth logistics, and fiercely competitive atmosphere.
Mauritania coach Arturo López Garai commended the tournament’s quality and CAF’s dedication. “The level is high. I especially enjoyed Algeria’s and Morocco’s matches, and Kenya’s clash with Angola was superb,” he said, adding that the facilities are “excellent” and encouraging more fans to fill the stands.
Tanzania coach Hemed Suleiman echoed the sentiment, noting both the organizational success and the technical improvement of teams: “Thank you to CAF for all it is doing. We can clearly see teams improving from one game to the next.”
Madagascar’s Romuald Rakotondrabe, appearing in his second consecutive CHAN, highlighted CAF’s consistency in delivering a well-run event. “Each time, the level of organization is remarkable. Congratulations to CAF for this work,” he said, praising the high standard of play.
South Africa coach Molefi Ntseki also commended the hosts for excellent accommodation, transport, and security. He stressed the importance of CAF’s strict adherence to competition protocols, noting: “As Africans, we are proud of the standards being set at this tournament.”
