The third edition of the annual Deep End Schools Cricket Tournament is set to bowl off on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

This exciting event is a collaboration between Deep End Sports Media and the Mukono Cricket Community.

Following two successful years, this year’s tournament welcomes new participants: St. Mary’s College Namagunga and Gayaza High School.

In past editions, Jinja SS won the girls’ category and Takajunge Community Team claimed victory in the boys’ category during the inaugural tournament.

Last year, Mukono Kings High School and St. Cornelius SS Kalagala took home the titles in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively.

As with previous tournaments, select games will be streamed live, allowing those unable to attend the matches to watch and follow the action.

Simon Kintu, chairman of the Mukono Cricket Community and head of the local organizing committee, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament.

He confirmed that all preparations are complete and that excitement is building as the teams from various schools have been training diligently for this moment.

Notably, friendly matches have been primarily held between St. Cornelius SS Kalagala and Mukono Kings, with both teams eyeing the ultimate prize.

The tournament venues will include Gayaza Ground, Namagunga Ground, and Mt. St. Henry’s Ground.

In the girls’ category, teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the finals.

The boys’ category will feature a best-of-two format for the two participating schools and all games will be played across two weekends.

Participating schools include:

Girls’ Category

St. Mary’s College Namagunga
Mukono Kings High School
St. Cornelius SS Kalagala
Gayaza High School
