Peace Kabasweka secured her second Entebbe Ladies Open title, adding another chapter to her golfing legacy in a captivating victory at Entebbe Club’s par-71 lakeside golf course. The 14th edition of the tournament concluded on Saturday.

Kabasweka, also the champion in 2022, carded 17 over par 230 after three rounds of the Ladies Group A main event (silver category), affirming her dominance on the course.

This triumph not only showcases Kabasweka’s individual talent but also signifies a significant milestone in her career. Her recent victories, including the Uganda Ladies Open a few months ago at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, underscore her prowess in the sport.

From the initial tee-off to the final putt, Kabasweka maintained a commanding lead, with Meron Kyomugisha playing the role of the main hunter throughout the event. Meron finished as the runner-up, concluding with 19 over par 232.

In the opening round, Kabasweka posted a three-shot lead with a 3-over-par 74, while Meron secured the runner-up position. Kabasweka maintained a two-shot advantage after two rounds, entering the final round with a total gross score of 157 (15 over par). The last day saw both Kabasweka and Meron carding 2 over par 73, the best score of the main event.

The competition narrowed down to Kabasweka and Meron in the final round, as the rest of the pack lagged behind. Harriet Kitaka finished third, 14 shots behind the leader. Judith Komugisha, initially third on day one and two, finished fourth with an overall 248.

Resty Nalutaaya and Gloria Mbaguta tied for fifth at 150, while Cathy Kwagala finished seventh at 256. Janet Kabayonga secured eighth place with 258, Bernadette Musanabera ninth with 259, and Lillian Koowe rounded out the top 10 at 261.

In the ladies bronze event (Group B) played over two days, Rukia Bako emerged as the winner with a net score of 125, while Nancy Muro and Nancy Muraya tied for second with a score of 136.

In the men’s gross competition, things were tight at the top, but Cosmas Ociti came atop with a score of 213, a shot ahead of Elton Thembo and two shots better than Emmanuel Moko.

The 2024 Entebbe Ladies Open was powered by KCB Bank, Uganda Airlines, Crown Beverages Limited, Uganda Breweries Limited, MTN Uganda & Britam Insurance.
