The 2025 Stanbic Entebbe Open will swing into action from October 5 to 9, bringing with it the biggest prize purse in the tournament’s history, upgraded player incentives, and a richer fan experience.
Tournament organizers announced on Thursday that prize money across all categories has been significantly increased. Professional golfers will now compete for a total pot of UGX 50 million, up from UGX 40 million in 2024. The top male and female gross winners will each walk away with UGX 15 million — a threefold increase from last year’s UGX 5 million.
“This year’s boost is a reflection of how far we’ve come,” said Eng. Jacob Byamukama, chairman of Entebbe Golf Club, during a press briefing at UMOJA House in Nakasero. “The Stanbic Entebbe Open has evolved into a regional draw, attracting elite talent from across East Africa. We’re proud to offer a platform that rewards that excellence.”
Stanbic Bank, the tournament’s headline sponsor, unveiled a suite of perks for players, fans, and customers using Stanbic FlexiPay or Stanbic cards throughout the event week. These include discounts on green fees, beverages, and on-site refreshments.
“This is more than a golf event—it’s an opportunity to connect with our customers in a unique and rewarding way,” said Stanbic’s Relationship Manager, Apell. “Through innovations like FlexiPay, we’re not just supporting sport; we’re redefining banking to be digital, convenient, and embedded in community life.”
In a first for the tournament, this year’s edition will feature the East African Business Summit cocktail, a high-level networking event running parallel to the golf. The summit will culminate in a joint awards and closing dinner hosted at the iconic 19th Hole, cementing the Open as a key fixture on both the sporting and business calendars.
Organizers are also keeping a strong focus on community impact. In partnership with Entebbe Hospital, Stanbic and Entebbe Golf Club will roll out a series of CSR activities during the tournament week — continuing a collaboration that began earlier this year with the Stanbic Match Play Challenge.
Over 300 golfers, VIP guests, and fans are expected at the scenic Entebbe Golf Club, promising four days of thrilling competition, vibrant hospitality, and the unmistakable buzz of the 19th Hole.
