Express, Vipers register vital wins in title race

Express FC struck late as they overcame Onduparaka FC 2-0 at Wankulukuku on Wednesday.

Eric Kambale netted both goals in the final 11 minutes of the contest to propel his side to victory.

His first came on 79 minutes as he rifled in a shot from distance that flew past Michael Kagiri in the visitors goals.

He then headed in from Martin Kizza’s free kick on 90 minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

The victory took Express to 43 points point for the season, four off top spot.

In Tororo, Vipers returned to winning ways thanks to a 4-0 victory away to MYDA FC.

Yunus Ssentamu opened the scoring on 19 minutes before adding another with 25 minutes to play.

In between his brace, Karim Watambala had made it 2-0 on 33 minutes before David Bagoole scored his first goal of the season at the start of the second period.

Victory sees Vipers move to 46 points, one behind leaders URA FC.

At Wakissha, Wakiso Giants took care of Police FC 3-1 in an eventful game.

Joshua Lubwama scored a brace and Vianne Ssekajugo added another while Herman Waasswa netted for the Cops.

Lubwama handed Wakiso the lead on 17 minutes as he dispatched a penalty after Ssekajugo was brought down in the area.

He scored another penalty on 51 minutes following a hand ball by Eric Ssenjobe.

Ssekajugo ho his goal on 62 minutes before Wasswa pulled on back for the Cops 10 minutes later.

The game saw Police have two goals ruled out for offside with Tony Maweje and Wasswa the unfortunate players.

The Uganda Premier League continues on Thursday with one game as KCCA host Bright Stars at Lugogo.
