FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick has praised FUFA President, Hon. Moses Magogo, for his leadership, which has significantly contributed to the growth and development of football in Uganda. Pinnick, who was in Uganda on a working visit, expressed his admiration during a press conference held at Mandela National Stadium on Tuesday.
Pinnick commended FUFA’s commitment to advancing football, particularly under Magogo’s leadership. He emphasized that FUFA has a clear plan for the development of the sport in Uganda, which he believes will yield results in the near future. He also acknowledged Magogo’s intelligence and willingness to implement successful ideas observed in other football associations.
During his visit, Pinnick was particularly impressed by FUFA’s ownership of both a radio and television station, which he noted are critical in promoting football. He pointed out that not many football associations globally have achieved such milestones. Pinnick also praised FUFA for broadcasting the ongoing AFCON Qualifiers through their media outlets, highlighting the role of media in football development.
Pinnick attended Uganda Cranes’ match against Congo and was impressed with the team’s performance, singling out the left-back as a standout player. He expressed confidence in Uganda’s ability to compete at higher levels in international football.
In response, FUFA President Magogo thanked Pinnick for his visit and expressed his appreciation for FIFA’s continued support under the leadership of Gianni Infantino. Magogo emphasized FUFA’s commitment to further developing football in Uganda.
Pinnick’s visit to Uganda is part of a broader tour that will also take him to Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Botswana as part of his FIFA supervisory duties.
