FUFA Drum tournament group stage climaxes

Ankole vs Lango, Ntungamo

Kampala vs Tooro, Wankukuku

Busoga vs Rwenzori, Bugembe

Bugisu vs Teso, Mbale

Bukedi vs Kigezi, Butaleja

West Nile vs Karamoja, Arua

Only three provinces have so far secured their place at the quarter finals of this year’s FUFA Drum tournament. As the thrilling competition that intends to celebrate ancestry returns this Saturday and Sunday, the battle for a place at the last eight will bring intensity at different grounds this weekend.

In group A, Kampala that have won two in a row host table leaders Tooro province at the Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankukuku with a win sending either side to the last eight, while Rwenzori and Busoga will also be battling for victory to make their way to the next stage at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe.

With a game to go, Tooro lead the group with 7 points while Busoga, Kampala and Rwenzori follow respectively with joint 6 points. Each of the sides has equal chances to progress.

In group B, champions Buganda will hope to complete the group stage on the high when they host winless Sebei at the Kasana grounds, Luwero. Buganda, who are already through lead group with 12 points, 3 above Lango and Ankole respectively with joint 9 while Sebei remains the only side without a point in this season’s competition.

Ankole host Lango in a blockbuster clash this Saturday at the Kyamate grounds, Ntungamo with the winner securing visa to next stage while a draw will see Lango through on goal difference.

On Sunday at Pece stadium in Gulu, Acholi who lead group C with 12 points host Bunyoro that are third with 5 points, 2 shy of second placed West Nile that host bottom placed Karamoja (4 points) on the same day at the Green light stadium, Arua.

Bukedi, who already qualified, welcome bottom placed Kigezi in group D at the Booma grounds, Butaleja with the visitor’s progress hopes already erased. Bukedi lead group with 11 points, 3 above Bugisu that host third placed Teso (5 points) on the same day
