Platinum Credit Heathens’ promising rugby talent, Daniel Malcolm Okello, has earned a place at the Rhinos Rugby Academy in San Clemente, California, becoming the latest Ugandan athlete to break into a world-class rugby development setup.

The Rhinos Academy is widely regarded as one of the top high-performance rugby institutions in the United States, offering elite training and competition opportunities for emerging talent from across the globe. Okello’s selection is being hailed as a significant achievement, both for the player and for Ugandan rugby as a whole.

Known for his strong work ethic, skill, and commitment to the sport, Okello has steadily risen through the ranks at Heathens and has been a standout performer in the local league. His move to the U.S.-based academy is seen as a major step forward in his career and a reward for years of disciplined effort.

“Malcolm’s work ethic and dedication to the game have always set him apart,” said a club official. “This opportunity will not only sharpen his skills but also elevate his game to international standards.”

The move also highlights the growing recognition of Ugandan rugby talent on the global stage. Rhinos Rugby Academy’s interest in Okello underscores the increasing competitiveness of players developed in Uganda’s top-tier rugby clubs.

Heathens Rugby Club, one of the most decorated teams in the country, expressed pride in Okello’s progress and reiterated its commitment to developing players who excel both locally and internationally.

“We are proud to see one of our own step onto the global stage. It speaks to the quality of talent within our ranks and the hard work of our technical team,” the club stated.

Rhinos Rugby Academy’s high-performance program is designed to prepare athletes for professional and international competition, offering access to top-tier coaching, sports science, and competitive fixtures.

Okello is expected to join the academy later this month, where he will begin intensive training with other elite prospects from around the world.
