Real Stars Sports Agency have announced the winners for the Fortebet Reals Stars Sports award for the month of February.
Kyetume Football Club duo Jackson Mayanja and Robert Ssentongo have emerged winners in the Football category.
“The slaughters duo were named winners after their outstanding performance in the month of February in the awards announced on Monday 16th, March at Copper chimney restaurant in Lugogo.
Player of the Month.
Robert Ssentongo beat Busoga United’s David Bagoole and Brian Aheebwa from Mbarara City.
Coaches.
Jackson Mayanja was picjed ahead of Brian Senyondo tge head coach Mbarara City and Busoga United head coach Abbey Kikomeko Bogere.
National swimmer Kirabo Namutebi came top in swimming winning Avice Meya and Alekis Kituuka.
Namutebi scopped five medals (2 gold medals, 2 bronze and 1 silver) at the CANA Zone IV championships held in Gaborone City, Botswana.
Hima Cement Heathen’s Aaron Oyorwoth was the best rugby player in February. Oyorwoth beat Joseph Oyet and Daudi Ssemwami.
Athletics
Joshua Cheptegei beat Juliet Chekwel to claim the best Athlete of the month award for February.
The 10000m world champion broke the 5Km world record on 16th February with a time of 12 minutes 51 seconds during the Monaco run.
To be on the nominees Juliet Chekwel won the Zurich Marathon that was held in Seville, Spain last month and set the new national record in the women’s Marathon.
Boxing.
National team Captain Shadir Musa Bwogi who qualified for 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the first qualifiers held in Dakar Senegal scooped the award.
Shadir Musa beat David Ssemujju Kavuma and Emily Nakalema who all made it to semi finals in the recently concluded Boxing qualifiers.
