Veteran football administrator Yusuf Kyeyune has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards held today at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala.
Kyuni, a revered figure in Ugandan football, was recognised for his decades-long service to the sport as both a player and administrator. He began his football journey in the 1960s, featuring for clubs such as Buikwe Redstars, City Cubs, Wandegeya, and Express FC before transitioning into management. He played a key role in starting teams like Nakivubo Boys and later served at SC Villa and several other clubs.
While receiving the award, Professor Kyeyune called for increased support towards such initiatives.
“It is a pleasure to be here. I am delighted with this input they have brought. I urge you to support them to the full extent,” he said.
Kyeyune is also credited with mentoring a generation of sports administrators who have gone on to lead various sports institutions across the country.
In addition to the Lifetime Achievement honour, the July edition of the awards also recognised Frank Kiwalabye for his outstanding performance in boxing, and Ponsiano Lwakataka, who excelled in motor rallying.

Isaac Mukasa, the CEO of Real Stars Sports Agency, reiterated the importance of celebrating sports icons whose impact might be unknown to the younger generation.
Representatives from Fortebet Uganda (Resty Mbatidde) and Jude Colour Solutions (Henry Zimbe) graced the occasion. The awards continue to be organised on a monthly basis to honour Uganda’s top-performing athletes across various disciplines.
