Lutwama appointed Uganda Rugby Union CEO

Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga joins URU after serving in different multinational corporate companies.

Former Kobs Rugby Club Chairman Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Rugby Union (URU). This development was confirmed on Friday, 30th December.

Lutwama takes on the role of CEO after Ramsey Olinga who continues to serve URU as the Chief Technical Officer.

About Isaac Lutwama:

Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga joins URU after serving in different multinational corporate companies such Unilever & Copia and is an experienced Brand and Marketing professional, with over 10 years’ experience working in the FMCG sector in Uganda and Kenya.

A trained Economist with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Makerere University, he is passionate about sports, rugby in particular, and the role it plays in building the ability to work as part of a team, building relationships & camaraderie to win.

He has previously served as Vice Chairman of Kampala Old Boys (KOBs) Rugby Club and from being a hobby, rugby has helped him build teamwork skills, ability to multitask and it continues to give him the opportunity to mentor young players right from high school all the way to university and help them prepare for life after rugby & school.

Uganda Rugby Union hopes to leverage his experience building and marketing brands to help build a sustainable future of financial strength, sporting excellence & success for Ugandan Rugby in his new role.

Remarks from URU President( Godwin Kayangwe):

“We welcome Isaac to the URU administration. He brings a wealth of experience in administration and marketing. In the bid to professionalize rugby, we have to consider the right personnel to guide the players as well maintaining high levels of stakeholder engagements continously and certainly in in order to achieve our vision. He is also a former player and administrator at KOBs. We have high hopes in him to steer our strategic direction.”
