Uganda Premier League side, Maroons Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Umar Abdallah Loi as their new head coach, replacing Muhammad Ssenfuma, who now takes on the role of first assistant at the Luzira-based side.

Loi, a CAF A licensed tactician, joins Maroons on a three-year contract running from July 2025 to July 2028, with the club holding an option to extend for an additional year.

“Maroons Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Umar Abdallah Loi as the new Head Coach on a three-year contract… Umar will join the club next week to commence official duties,” read an official club statement.
Club CEO Rodrick Muhumuza expressed optimism about the new leadership, stating,

“We are confident that Umar’s passion, coaching methodologies, and result-oriented approach will drive Maroons FC to new heights. The club warmly welcomes Umar and his new technical team as we embark on this exciting journey together.”

Loi brings with him an impressive coaching résumé, having recently led Malakia Sports Club to a runner-up finish in the South Sudan Super League. He also guided Yei Joint Stars Women’s Team to back-to-back South Sudan Women’s League titles in 2022/23 and 2023/24.

Additionally, he claimed South Sudan Cup honors with Superstar FC in Bor and has been instrumental in nurturing talent across the West Nile region, with several of his players earning call-ups to the South Sudan National Team.

Maroons FC now join a growing list of Uganda Premier League sides undergoing managerial changes ahead of the 2025/26 season, including KCCA FC, SC Villa, and Kitara FC.

Loi is expected to officially begin his tenure with Maroons next week as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
