The New England Revolution have bolstered their midfield by signing 17-year-old Ugandan sensation Allan Oyirwoth.
The central midfielder, who has already made his mark with the Uganda Senior National Team, will officially join the team on his 18th birthday, January 23, 2025. His contract runs through the 2028 MLS season, with an option to extend for 2029.
Oyirwoth hails from Pakwach, Uganda, and has quickly risen to prominence on the international stage. He debuted for the Uganda Senior National Team during a FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Somalia in November 2023, providing an assist in 67 minutes. He followed that performance with an appearance in a friendly against Kuwait in January 2024.
On the youth front, Oyirwoth shone for Uganda’s U-20 team at the 2023 African Games, scoring against Senegal and helping his team secure a win over Nigeria.
“Allan Oyirwoth is one of the top prospects out of Uganda and a very promising young midfielder,” said Revolution Sporting Director Curt Onalfo. “We’re excited to integrate Allan into our high-potential training environment in New England and help him reach his potential.”
Oyirwoth’s path to Major League Soccer includes an impressive stint at Amus College School in Uganda, where he earned MVP honors at the USSSA National Football Championship and the Teso Zone competition in 2023.
He also led goal-scoring charts at the International Schools Football Championship in Morocco and the FEASSSA competition in East Africa.
Additionally, his stellar performances earned him MVP honors in Uganda’s Buganda Masaza Cup.
In 2024, Oyirwoth briefly trained in England at the prestigious Brooke House College and Academy, which has ties to several Premier League clubs.
Now, he brings his technical prowess and athletic versatility to MLS, where he is eager to make an impact.
“Allan is a talented young midfielder with tremendous upside,” said Head Coach Caleb Porter. “At just 17, he has the technical skills and athletic profile to excel in MLS. With time to develop, I’m confident he can become a key contributor for the Revolution.”
Standing 6’1” and right-footed, Oyirwoth adds height and skill to the Revolution’s midfield.
He joins the squad as the second-youngest player on the roster as preseason preparations for the 2025 MLS season are underway.
The Revolution kick off their campaign on February 22, 2025, against Nashville SC.
