Paul Mucureezi and Israel Makokha emerged winners in football and rugby, respectively during the Fortebet Real Stars Awards session held today morning Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala.
Mucureezi, a NEC FC forward claimed the football award ahead of Arafat Usama and Karim Ndugwa following an exceptional run of form in March.
Mucureezi netted two goals and registered four assists in just four games, playing a pivotal role in NEC FC’s ongoing title challenge in the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
His creative spark and eye for goal have been crucial for the Army Entrepreneurs, who continue to push for top honors despite a recent setback against UPDF in Bombo.
In the rugby category, Israel Makokha of Victoria Sharks edged out William Nkore and Joseph Aredo to take home the award.
The fly-half scored 44 points in three games during the month, leading the Sharks to a 7th-place finish and a spot in the playoffs.
Makokha has not only been reliable with the boot but also instrumental in dictating the pace and flow of games, helping the Sharks gain critical momentum.
Although the Sharks lost the first leg of the quarterfinals 41-26 to the Heathens, Makokha’s influence remains a vital asset to the team.
In boxing, the nominees for March include Muzamir Kakande, Shadir Musa Bwogi, and Ronald Nsamba. The winner is yet to be announced, with the judges still evaluating performances.
