The biggest Ugandan January transfer news has been Paul Mucureezi joining Vipers SC on a three-year deal as a free agent from Mbarara City. The 27-year old winger has made his debut against Kyetume this Friday as the two sides start their 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda premier league second round campaign.

Youngster Jaccob Okao was also handed his debut while Fahad Bayo was partnered by Tito Okello upfront. The hosts were 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture at Kitende –a game in which Fahad Bayo scored his first away league goal of the season.

The Venoms are top of the standings with 36 points from 15 games, one point above second placed KCCA that have played a game more. The reigning champions toiled to a 1-0 home win over Mbarara City with defender Filbert Obenchan heading home the winner in the second half to give the KCCA maiden win at the Ankole Lions in six games.

“We have prepared ourselves well knowing that this campaign is not easy. It’s going to be tough and we need to be ready for anything,” Vipers SC Coach, Edward Golola, whose side has only lost to KCCA this term.

Youthful midfielder Bobos Byaruhanga has a slight knock picked during training and will have to beat a late fitness test while Bashir Asiku and Abraham Ndugwa are yet to fully recover from injuries.

The three-time champions continue without striker Shaban Muhammad and defender Livingstone Mulondo who continue with their rehabilitation following surgeries.

Kyetume however, by press time yesterday was uncertain of the players to use against the table leaders as almost all their players had no licenses by press time yesterday.

Kyetume is one of the clubs that used provisional licenses most in the opening half of the season.
