Uganda Lady Cranes star Lydia Namabiro was the standout performer at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala.
Namabiro took home the rugby accolade after her outstanding contribution in helping the Lady Cranes qualify for Africa Rugby Tier One.
The dynamic number 8 scored six tries during the campaign and showcased leadership and consistency throughout.
She beat off competition from teammate Peace Lekuru and fellow forward William Nkore to claim the monthly award—her third from the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards.
In the football category, 17-year-old James Bogere stole the spotlight after a stellar showing during the Africa U-17 World Cup qualifiers in Morocco. Bogere netted three goals and made one assist as Uganda secured historic qualification to the U-17 World Cup.

He triumphed over Police FC’s Umar Kasumba and UPDF FC’s Samuel Ssekamatte, who had four goals each in the Uganda Premier League during April.
Kabaddi also had its moment of recognition as Eunice Awori walked away with the award for her role in guiding Uganda’s women’s national team to World Cup qualification at the Africa Women’s Cup.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary kickboxer Moses Golola by the awards CEO, Isaac Mukasa, in the presence of Fortebet Ambassador Alex Muhangi and Jude Colour Solutions’ Henry Zimbe.
She edged out fellow teammates Olivia Nalubega and Nahia Nalwoga.
