Allan Mabwa, an employee of National Water, working at Entebbe narrowly missed winning a record 968 million from Fortebet, but still walked home happy with 284 million.

On his online ticket (number 8001429733319999), Mabwa selected 14 matches and from just 1,000/=, this ticket was supposed to win 968 million if it wasn’t one odd-4 match (Boston-Gateshead) that was postponed. However, Mabwa’s smile did not die because Fortebet still paid him an incredible 284 million for the rest of the matches.

So, from the remaining 13 matches, Mabwa’s ticket collected a total unbelievable odd of 284,967.49 and paid him shillings 284,967,940 from only 1,000/=, thanks to Fortebet’s big odds!

“I have to place a bet of 1,000/= everyday. I have been doing this for the last 3 years without winning a single coin. This is my first time to win and I have won big. I have always dreamt of winning big money and I have always only gone for few matches with big odds,” Mabwa said in an interview.

Mabwa said that he chose to bet online for; convenience, avoiding ‘rubbish’ (many hard tickets) in his wallet and also to take home his winnings home without any (tax) deductions and it is with hard receipts.

“I have ‘chased’ away poverty from my home completely. I am going to buy two big plots, one for building in my residential house and another-rentals. I will use the rest of the money for starting up my own business,” the winner explained what he is going to use this money for.
