Both URA FC and Maroons FC failed to find the breakthrough in their respective StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixtures on Wednesday, settling for goalless draws against Lugazi FC and Calvary FC.
At Lugazi, former champions URA went in search of their first win of the 2025/26 campaign but were once again left frustrated after a cagey encounter that ended 0-0.
Both sides created chances but lacked the finishing touch. URA’s Nelson Senkatuka saw his header cleared off the line before Moses Aliro struck the post, while Lugazi came close through David Bagoole and Amos Etoju, who both rattled the woodwork.
Derrick Mwanje was booked for Lugazi in the 71st minute, while Senkatuka (63’) and Innocent Kisolo (89’) were cautioned for URA. Despite the stalemate, goalkeeper Justine Opilo’s solid performance earned him the player of the match award.
The result lifted Lugazi to third place with five points from four games, while URA sit a point behind in fourth.
In Luzira, Maroons FC were held to another goalless draw by newcomers Calvary FC, who managed to secure only their second point of the season.
The hosts, hoping to recover from an earlier defeat, dominated possession but failed to convert their chances. Calvary’s disciplined defense, led by man of the match Emmanuel Derrick Were, ensured they left with a valuable away point.
Maroons now occupy ninth place on the table with four points from three matches, while Calvary remain just above the relegation zone with one point.
The action continues on Thursday, October 23, with BUL FC hosting league leaders Buhimba United Saints at Njeru, while Express FC face KCCA FC at the refurbished Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Buhimba United Saints currently top the table with nine points, followed by KCCA, Lugazi, BUL, and Police—all tied on five points.
