Emanuel Okwi wants the Uganda Cranes to reach the furthest in this year’s AFCON in Egypt.
Uganda opened the campaign with an impressive 2-0 win over two-time champions Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Saturday to end the 41-year wait for a win at the continental showpiece since 1978 semi finals.

Okwi headed home the second on Saturday off Miya Faruku’s free kick after the break. KCCA FC forward Patrick Kaddu had put Uganda ahead early in the opening stanza after heading in Miya’s corner.
The SC Simba forward, who was also named Man of the match on Saturday, believes that the journey only started with much to be achieved. He says that they have to work hard for more good results.
“Our main goal is reach the furthest point possible. Now we have the victory which we will build upon and continue working hard to win the upcoming match,” noted Okwi. Group A leaders Uganda face injured Zimbawe this Wednesday looking for positive result to secure knockout stage visa whilst Zimbawe seeking redemption after 1-0 loss to hosts and record 7-time champions Egypt in the opener. Egypt will be playing DRC later in the day in Group A matchday two fixtures.
