The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League enters Matchday 6 this weekend, promising pulsating encounters as the league’s top four sides lock horns in potentially season-defining fixtures. With two matches scheduled for Saturday and four on Sunday, every team will be looking to gain crucial points as the title race starts to take shape.
On Saturday, St Noa Girls-Zana FC will host defending champions Kampala Queens at Muteesa II Stadium, while Uganda Martyrs welcome Rines SS WFC at St Gerald’s Ground, Lubaga.
Debutants St Noa are winless in their last three matches and face a tough challenge against the high-flying Kampala Queens, who thrashed Olila 5-0 in their previous outing. The defending champions will rely on in-form forward Kamiyati Naigaga, who has scored in five consecutive games and was named October Player of the Month. Head Coach Firew Asefa, who recently marked one year at the club, will be confident of continuing their winning momentum.
However, St Noa remain one of the league’s most dangerous attacking teams, with Dorcus Lwalisa and Patricia Nayiga leading the charge. Head coach Tonny Mawejje will be hoping to tighten his defense, which has shown vulnerabilities in recent games.
At Lubaga, Uganda Martyrs aim to extend their good run and secure their first home win of the campaign. The team’s attack, led by Brenda Munyana and Nusulah Nakintu, will look to deliver against a determined Rines SS WFC side still searching for their first victory of the season.
The spotlight fixture of the weekend will be played on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, where She Corporate FC host Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in a top-of-the-table clash. Both teams are unbeaten, tied on 13 points, with She Corporate edging ahead on goal difference (8 to 6).
“She Corporate remain solid at home, while Kawempe have been flawless away,” said Ininahazwe Belyse, Head Coach of She Corporate. “We’re taking it game by game, but our focus is on playing good football and getting three points at home.”
Kawempe’s head coach Ayub Khalifa is equally confident: “They’ve had a strong start, but we believe in our players and our game plan. Our goal is to pick maximum points.”
For She Corporate, attacking stars Sandra Kisakye, Jesca Namanda, and former Kawempe player Rebecca Nakato will be expected to shine, while Kawempe will rely on Latifah Nakasi, Agnes Nabukenya, and Jovia Nakagolo for goals.
Elsewhere, Asubo Ladies FC will host Olila H/S WFC at Kampala Quality Ground, hoping to register their first win of the season. Shadia Babirye is expected to lead Asubo’s attack, while Olila will aim to build on their recent promise.
In Soroti, Amus College WFC will entertain Lady Doves FC in a must-win match for both sides as they seek to turn around inconsistent starts. Meanwhile, at Luzira Prison Grounds, She Maroons FC face Makerere University WFC, with both sides desperate to return to winning ways.
