The Uganda Teen Cranes’ journey in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers came to an end after a 5-0 aggregate defeat to Kenya.
Kenya’s Junior Starlets sealed their progression to the next round with a dominant 3-0 win in the return leg at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, on Sunday. This followed their 2-0 victory in the first leg, completing a comprehensive performance over their regional rivals.
Patience Asiko opened the scoring early in the match, finding the net within five minutes, while Brenda Achieng added two second-half goals to secure Kenya’s place in the next round. The Junior Starlets will now face Cameroon, who eliminated Ethiopia with a commanding 6-2 aggregate win.
Kenya is chasing a second consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after featuring in last year’s edition in the Dominican Republic.
Elsewhere, Tanzania also bowed out of the competition after a 1-0 loss to Zambia in Ndola, sealing a 4-0 aggregate defeat.
Four teams from Africa will eventually qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, joining hosts Morocco in the tournament.
