Uganda U20 national team head coach Mathias Lule has announced the final 20-man squad set to compete in the AFCON U20 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Tanzania from October 6 to 20, 2024. The squad consists of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and five forwards, with defender Toto Majub named captain.
Uganda, the defending champions, will compete in Group B alongside Ethiopia, Burundi, and South Sudan. The Hippos begin their title defense on Monday, October 7, with a match against Ethiopia at the Azam Complex, kicking off at 18:00 EAT.
Coach Lule expressed confidence in the team’s ability to maintain Uganda’s strong youth football record and secure a place at the 2025 AFCON U20 tournament. The team will depart for Tanzania aboard Uganda Airlines this evening.
