Uganda is in the final stages of preparations to co-host the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2024), officially branded as the TotalEnergies CAF CHAN PAMOJA 2024. The month-long football tournament will kick off on Saturday, August 2, 2024, and run until August 30, 2024, bringing together domestic league talent from across the continent.

Organized under the PAMOJA partnership with Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda will host Group C matches at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, which boasts a 32,000-seat capacity. Group C includes Algeria, Guinea, Niger, South Africa, and Uganda.

A total of 12 matches will be played in Uganda over 8 days, including 9 group-stage fixtures, one quarter-final, one semi-final, and the third-place playoff.

Uganda’s first match in the tournament will be against Algeria on Monday, August 4, 2024, at 8 p.m., while the stadium will host its first game earlier that day at 5 p.m. between Niger and Guinea.

Digital-Only Ticketing Now Live
CAF has launched the official ticket sales platform for the tournament. All tickets are digital-only and must be purchased online via the CHAN ticketing portal (CAF Tickets) or through QR codes shared across digital and print media.

Key ticketing information includes:
• One ticket grants access to both matches on a match day.
• No re-entry: Once scanned, exiting the stadium forfeits re-entry using the same ticket.
• Ticket prices per day:
o Ordinary: UGX 10,000
o Silver: UGX 30,000
o Premium: UGX 50,000

Currently, only group-stage match tickets are available for purchase, covering game days on August 4, 8, 11, 15, and 18. Uganda will feature in three of these matches, with their final group game against South Africa on August 18, 2024.

Seating and Stadium Sections
• Ordinary tickets: Sections 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, and 16 (behind goalposts)
• Silver tickets: Section 5 (Eastern wing, opposite VVIP)
• Premium tickets: Sections 12 and 14 (beside VVIP)

Fans can view seat availability in real time, with seat selection held for 10 minutes during the booking process.

Payment Options
Tickets can be paid for using:
• MTN MoMo
• Airtel Money
• Visa or MasterCard

Buyers must input their name, phone number, and email, after which the ticket is sent via SMS or email. It can be printed or presented on a mobile phone at the stadium gates for scanning.

The Local Organizing Committee has invested UGX 1 billion in public awareness efforts, including campaigns on TV, radio, social media, and community outreach, to ensure full stadiums and vibrant support for the tournament.

The guiding principle behind ticket pricing, officials said, is affordability and accessibility—aiming to give every Ugandan a chance to experience live international football at Namboole.
