Uganda is in the final stages of preparations to co-host the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2024), officially branded as the TotalEnergies CAF CHAN PAMOJA 2024. The month-long football tournament will kick off on Saturday, August 2, 2024, and run until August 30, 2024, bringing together domestic league talent from across the continent.
Organized under the PAMOJA partnership with Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda will host Group C matches at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, which boasts a 32,000-seat capacity. Group C includes Algeria, Guinea, Niger, South Africa, and Uganda.
A total of 12 matches will be played in Uganda over 8 days, including 9 group-stage fixtures, one quarter-final, one semi-final, and the third-place playoff.
Uganda’s first match in the tournament will be against Algeria on Monday, August 4, 2024, at 8 p.m., while the stadium will host its first game earlier that day at 5 p.m. between Niger and Guinea.
