Coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula has finalized the squad for the Uganda U16 Women’s National Team set to compete in the inaugural UEFA U16 Friendship Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.
The squad consists of 19 players, accompanied by nine officials, who will embark on their journey to Turkey aboard Turkish Airlines on Tuesday morning at 5:00 am.
This invitational tournament, organized by UEFA, will feature eight nations, including Uganda, hosts Turkey, Botswana, USA, Vietnam, China, Paraguay, and Wales.
Uganda finds itself in Group B alongside China, Wales, and Paraguay, with their first match scheduled against Paraguay on Thursday, April 11th.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 9th to April 19th, 2024, at the Turkish Football Federation training center in Riva, Istanbul.
Preparations for the tournament included a residential camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi, which commenced last Thursday. The team also played a practice match against Kawempe Muslim SS on Sunday, resulting in a 3-2 victory for the latter.
Leading the technical team is Coach Ayiekoh, supported by Assistant Coach William Moses Nkata.
