FIFA U17 World Cup, Return leg
Sunday
Ethiopia vs Uganda, Bahar Dar
The Uganda U17 Girls team is in Ethiopia where they will be aiming for at least a draw take on the home side in the return leg of the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup Qualifiers in Bahar Dar this Sunday.
Head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi says that the team is in shape after a week-long training which included a 6-0 practice match win against Kampala select.
Though a draw would be enough for the team to advance to the second round after a 2-0 home victory in the first leg, Ayub says that they are going to play for maximum points and everyone in the team looks forward to that.
“We could have won with a 5-0 goal margin in the first leg if we had converted our chances especially in first half. We have spent a better part of our training working on the attack and conversion of the created chances. The team is ready to go and get that win from Ethiopia. I am pleased with the way the girls play; attacking with speed and defending as a unit among other things,” noted Ayub after the practice match at Lugogo.
The team flew out on Friday morning aboard the Ethiopian Airlines.
