In a historic moment for Ugandan golf, David Kamulindwa has been granted a coveted wild card entry to the prestigious Magical Kenya Open (2024) which is a DP World Tour event.
The announcement comes as a testament to Kamulindwa’s exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. He was handed the wild card by tournament director Patrick Obath.
This development means that there will be two Ugandan professional golfers at the event. Ronald Rugumayo who qualified for the event via the Safari Tour series was the first to secure a slot. Rugumayo also featured at last year’s Magical Kenya Open after he secured a wild card.
Kamulindwa’s journey to the DP World Tour event has been marked by impressive achievements and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Though he didn’t qualify directly (via Safari Tour series), he has consistently showcased skill, composure, and sportsmanship, earning respect within the golfing community.
Local golf enthusiasts and supporters are rallying behind Kamulindwa eager to witness him compete against some of the world’s top golfers. The DP World Tour event in Kenya promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, and Kamulindwa who hails from Entebbe Club is poised to make the most of this rare opportunity.
This wild card not only highlights Kamulindwa’s individual achievement but also puts Ugandan golf on the map, showcasing the growing prowess of the country’s players on the global stage. As he prepares to tee off in Kenya, expectations are high, and hopes are soaring for a stellar performance that will leave a lasting impression on the international golfing community.
The Magical Kenya Open has been part of the European circuit’s schedule since 2019 after being promoted to the main tour from Challenge Tour.

Jorge Campillo won this tournament last year to end a three-year winless run with a two-shot win at Muthaiga Golf Club.
South African Dylan Frittelli, who won his first DP World Tour title in six years at the Bahrain Championship, heads the field alongside the likes of Adrian Otaegui, Rikuya Hoshino and Ewen Ferguson.
Players can expect temperatures of over 30 degrees Celcius in the blazing Nairobi sun throughout the week.
