Uganda Premier League
Express FC vs Arua Hill SC
15th October 2021 – 3 PM
@Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

Uganda Premier League (UPL) title holders Express FC will start their title defense against newly promoted side Arua Hill Sports Club in the opening matchday of the 2021/22 season on Friday, 15th October at the Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

This will be the first time ever the two sides meet across all competitions hence it will be a hard one to call.

Express finished last season unbeaten at home across all competitions while Arua Hill finished the entire promotional Big League (second tier) season unbeaten both at home and on the road.

Express Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa says that his side has put in the work in the off-season and are in good shape albeit a few charges still battling knocks.

“Our preparations have gone on well ahead of the new league season. We have a few injuries in Godfrey Lwesibawa (knee), Arthur Kiggundu and Kiragga Mustapha but the rest are available for selection,” Bbosa told the club website.

Express suffered defeat defeat to BUL FC in the semifinals of the Uganda Cup a few weeks ago. Bbosa says that the players will bounce back from that disappointing outing.

“We’ve managed to correct our mistakes but also allow our players to rest. Right now they’re fine and I’m sure they’ll put up a show beginning with the first game,” Bbosa added.

Bbosa also says that they’re ready to maintain their unbeaten home run for a long time hence no dropping points against Arua Hill.

Express will for the second time in a row open up their league campaign against an Arua based side.

The game kicks off at 3pm and it will be live on Sanyuka TV.
