NEC FC stole the spotlight on matchday two of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as they claimed a crucial 2-1 away victory over Kitara in Hoima, sending them to the top of the table.

NEC FC secured their second consecutive win of the season with an impressive display against Kitara.
Enock Ssebagala opened the scoring for the visitors with a sensational 30-yard strike just before halftime in the 40th minute.
Kitara responded through Kabon Living, who converted a penalty in the 69th minute to level the score.
However, NEC’s resilience shone through when Gadafi Wahab struck a stunning volley 11 minutes from time, sealing the 2-1 victory.
The assist came from Ssebagala, who made a brilliant run down the wing before crossing to Wahab for the decisive goal.
NEC now sit at the top of the league table with six points from their first two matches, while Kitara are third with three points.
Vipers bounce back against Express
In Kitende, Vipers SC bounced back from their 3-1 opening day loss to NEC with a dominant 3-0 win over Express FC at St Mary’s Stadium.
Milton Karisa was the star of the match, netting a brace with goals in the 21st and 75th minutes. Asiwome Fumador added the third goal in the 84th minute to seal a comfortable victory.
This win marks Vipers’ first of the season, propelling them to sixth place with three points, while Express remain on three points from two games.
UPDF secure first win over Lugazi
UPDF also recorded their first win of the season, narrowly beating newcomers Lugazi FC 1-0. The decisive moment came in the 76th minute when Andrew Samson Kigozi found the back of the net.
UPDF now occupy second place on the table with four points, while Lugazi, having lost both of their opening matches, are at the bottom with zero points.
