Match day ten of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League kicks off on Wednesday with two pivotal fixtures that could reshape both ends of the table.
At Najjembe, Lugazi FC host 2005 champions Police FC as they attempt to halt a worrying run of form. Steven Bogere’s men have managed just one win in their last five league outings and sit precariously on nine points—only three above the relegation zone. Any further slip, especially at home, could drag them deeper into an early survival fight.
Police FC, meanwhile, arrive with a contrasting agenda. Sitting 4th with 17 points, Matia Lule’s side is within touching distance of the summit. Victory in Najjembe would propel the Cops above KCCA FC and temporarily take them top of the table. They will, however, need to overcome a strange hurdle—Lugazi are unbeaten against Police in their last four meetings across competitions, registering three draws and a win.
In Butema, newly promoted Buhimba United Saints face UPDF FC in what already feels like a relegation six-pointer at The Royals Park. Buhimba enter the fixture in dire form, having lost six consecutive league games and conceding 24 goals during that stretch. The pressure is mounting as they remain rooted near the bottom with nine points.
UPDF FC approach the duel with renewed confidence after a commanding 2–0 victory over Lugazi in their previous outing. Another win would offer the army side much-needed breathing space as they look to distance themselves from relegation danger. Despite playing away, UPDF will start as favourites given Buhimba’s collapse in recent weeks.
