Ugandan security forces dominated the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Wednesday, with UPDF securing a 2-0 victory over BUL at Lugazi, while Police edged Wakiso Giants 2-1 in Kavumba.
UPDF continued their resurgence with a confident performance against BUL. Christopher Kamagu opened the scoring in the 26th minute, capitalizing on a well-timed pass from Ronald Kayondo to bypass a shaky BUL defense.
The match was sealed in the final minutes as Shakibu Mayanja’s brilliant footwork set up Brian Kalumba for a decisive second goal.
This marked UPDF’s fourth win in 11 matches, pushing them to sixth place on the table with 16 points, just six behind league leaders NEC.
Despite a rough patch earlier in the season, including a 4-0 loss to Kitara, the army side has shown resilience in their recent outings.
For BUL, it was another disappointing result, their third defeat in 11 games. Now winless in their last four matches, they sit ninth with 14 points, trailing UPDF by two.
At Kavumba, Police broke their run of three consecutive draws by defeating Wakiso Giants 2-1.
Isaac Ogwang and Brian James Obedi scored for the Cops, while Abdul Ssemakula netted Wakiso’s lone goal.
The win lifts Police to fourth place with 16 points, while Wakiso Giants continue their downward spiral, sitting just above the relegation zone with nine points.
The Purple Sharks have now gone eight matches without a win, a worrying trend as they fight to stay out of the bottom three.
