Uganda Premier League side URA FC has announced Nakivubo Stadium as their official home ground for the 2024/25 season, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.
This return revives memories of URA FC’s triumphant 2011 league victory, the last major success celebrated at this iconic venue.
Closed for renovations since 2016 under Hajji Hamis Kiggundu’s management, Nakivubo Stadium reopened on June 1, 2024, with a series of sports events, highlighted by URA FC’s 3-0 win over Kitara FC.
Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s brace and a goal from Joseph Ssemujju secured the victory in the stadium’s reopening match, under the guidance of coach Alex Isabirye.
The refurbished stadium now boasts modern facilities, promising an enhanced matchday experience for both fans and players.
URA FC’s return to Nakivubo is expected to reignite their competitive spirit as they gear up for the new season, which kicks off on September 18, 2024.
