Uganda sports press association (USPA) president Patrick Kanyomozi has urged the public to register for the 2019 National social security fund (NSSF) Kampala Seven hills Hash run due March 17 in Kampala. It is the first time this charity run is opened to the public (individuals) having previously attracted only corporate companies.

This year, individual participation is at Shs25,000 while companies will participate according to the different packages. “I want to thank NSSF for the initiative and the fund’s MD (Mr. Byarugaba) for living sports and charity,” noted Kanyomozi.

He was speaking on Friday at Standard chartered Bank offices in Kampala as the bank handed over their Shs30m contribution to the run. Standard chartered bank Managing Director Albert Salston handed over the contribution to NSSF Managing Director Richard Byarugaba in company of Kanyomozi.

“We are happy to partner with NSSF for a charity cause. It is our role as a bank to change the society of our clientele. We shall ensure that our staff takes part in the run,” noted Salston. NSSF’s Byarugaba applauded Standard Chartered bank for coming on board, urging more companies to join the cause. “It is getting bigger and better this year. I urge more corporate companies to come on board and the public to register as individuals. Away from the charity cause, the run is a health initiative that enables workers to keep physically fit,” he said. This year’s run targets over Shs500m that will go towards the renovation of four upcountry schools on top of the KCCA public schools in Kampala.

Over Shs300m has been collected and handed over to the management of KCCA since the run’s inception and over six KCCA schools have benefited from this charity cause.
