The Wakiso Zonal Qualifiers kicked off on Monday with a bang as 32 teams clashed in front of enthusiastic crowds. This zone consistently delivers some of the most exciting matches in the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) qualifiers.
Defending champions Buddo SS made their intentions clear from the get-go, dominating their opponents on the first day of the championship.
In two games, the Nsagi Zone finalists scored an impressive total of 10 goals while keeping a clean sheet. Their standout performance came with a resounding 9-0 victory over Kajjansi Progressive.
Elsewhere, Light High Seguku entertained the crowd with a 6-0 win against Kakungulu High School in a thrilling match.
Abedeen Abdulkarim, Benard Bagambe, Emmanuel Nabola, and Peter Hire were among the scorers for Seguku-based Light High Seguku.
Also on day one, St Mary’s Kitende showcased their strength by clinching two victories in two games, first securing a 4-0 win before dispatching God Cares 6-0.
The national champions, Kitende, experimented with different starting lineups in each game, as coach Daniel Male aimed to test various players.
In the ongoing championship, Kitende aims to break Buddo’s regional dominance, having faced defeat against them in multiple finals.
The action continues on day two of the championship (Tuesday) pas the 32 teams compete for the five available slots for the upcoming Nationals.
