The Victoria Pearls are set for another big international test as the Uganda Women’s National Cricket Team heads to Thailand for the Emerging Women’s Trophy 2025, scheduled to run from 18th November to 1st December 2025.
The tournament, which debuts this year, brings together the top emerging women’s cricket nations in a global showcase of talent and ambition. Matches will be played at two iconic venues in Bangkok — Terdthai Cricket Ground and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
Uganda enters the competition on a high after sweeping the 2025 Victoria Series 5–0 against Canada Women in late October. The team sees the return of Teddy Oyella, who replaces Phiona Kulume from the squad that travelled to Namibia for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in July.
The Victoria Pearls will begin their campaign on 20th November 2025, taking on Scotland at Terdthai Cricket Ground, as the team looks to build on its momentum and assert itself among the world’s top emerging sides.
This inaugural edition features eight teams — five women’s associate members with ODI status (Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand, and the UAE), along with the top three from the T20I rankings (Namibia, Uganda, and Tanzania).
The top four teams from this tournament will qualify for another new global event set for 2027, where they will join four full members who miss out on the 2027 Champions Trophy.
Both tournaments form part of the ICC’s long-term plan to expand the Women’s T20 World Cup from 12 teams in 2026 to 16 teams in 2030, creating more qualification opportunities and a clearer development pathway for rising cricket nations like Uganda.
