50 summoned as Uganda Hippos prepare for AFCON U20

Uganda Hippos head coach Jackson Mayanja has named his provisional squad ahead of the finals of the AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt.

A total of 50 players have been summoned by Mayanja with only one player (Muhammad Nsereko) from the winning team in Sudan missing.

SC Villa exciting forward Travis Mutyaba, Ivan Asaba, Andrew Kawooya Alpha Ssali, Saidi Mayanja, Oscar Mawa and Ivan Irinimbabazi are some of the other notable additions in the squad.

The team will enter residential camp tomorrow (Wednesday) at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, for a couple of days before shifting base to the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi.

The Hippos qualified for the second successive time after finishing as runners up in 2021 in Mauritania.

They are in Group B along with the Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, and South Sudan.

The tournament will run from February 19 to February 11 in Egypt, in the cities of Cairo, Ismailia, and Alexandria.
